DESCRIPTION:

Designed for Classroom Teachers K-10 and Leaders of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum, this unique professional learning opportunity is centred on fostering knowledge and skills in relation to using Project-Based Learning (PBL) to create rigorous, authentic units of work that will engage students, boost collaboration, communication and student agency.

Drawing on input and expertise presented by highly experienced PBL classroom teacher and NTNAU School Development Coach, Emily Liccioni, participants will be actively supported to craft, evaluate, strengthen and embed a rigorous PBL unit that is specific to their context.

The program structure will consist of one full day workshop session in addition to a follow up feedback session during which participants will showcase their project ideas and receive feedback to move the project towards implementation with students.

Workshop will provide:

• A project simulation during which participants experience best practice project-based learning launch through the eyes of a student

• A thorough understanding of the NTN model of project-based learning with access to NTN scaffolding tools for teachers to use

• Opportunity to explore a range of example projects

• NTN Rubrics for fostering student growth in collaboration skills and agency

• Expert guidance: Learn how to craft and improve authentic learning experiences with expert guidance and subsequent feedback.
